Mardi Gras Tricky Tray

At the May PTA meeting, the tricky tray committee was thrilled to announce the significant grand total raised by this unique event. (You'll have to read all the way through to find out the total!) The impressive sum is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our community.

The annual Bloomingdale PTA Tricky Tray is a fun-filled evening where attendees purchase tickets and place them in containers next to the items they hope to win. This years event, held on Wednesday, May 1, at the Knoll Country Club in Boonton, was a vibrant Mardi Gras-themed affair. With 317 guests in attendance and over 180 raffle prizes up for grabs, the atmosphere was nothing short of electric. It was a night filled with laughter, anticipation, and joy, all thanks to your enthusiastic participation.

This event, Co-chaired by Michele Ferry and Melissa Bressette, takes over six months to plan and the support of one fantastic committee. This year's committee members were Abby Kendig, Kelly Koeppen, Terese Woodcock, Cecilia Hriczov, Kelly Couillou, Karolina Weber, Leanne Scaturro, Courtney DiPiazza, Leah Gelok, and Michele Reynolds.

We start by contacting local businesses, corporations, and even sports teams to request donations. It's a challenging task, but this year, our efforts were led by two dynamic volunteers, Courtney DiPiazza and Leah Gelok. These amazing ladies brought in 140 of our 180 donations and played a crucial role in the success of our tricky tray. Others who helped out with collecting donations were Michele Reynolds, Leanne Scaturro, Kelly Couillou, Terese Woodcock, Michele Ferry, Kelly Koeppen, and Melissa Bressette.

On the night of the event, all hands are on deck to sell prize raffle tickets and 50/50 tickets and conduct the main raffle. The volunteers helping to sell prize raffle tickets go to work the minute the doors open and move nonstop until the last call is made. These ladies brought in almost $10,000 in cash within 90 minutes, which is remarkable.

Next are our 50/50 volunteers; these two women are hand-selected for the job because they are known for their successful track record. Cecilia Hriczov and Terese Woodcock set a new record selling out this year's 50/50 raffle. Three hundred fifty tickets were sold, and the raffle winner took home $1750.

We are incredibly grateful to our student volunteers. Their hard work and dedication ensured that all of our guests could remain seated during the event and have their prizes brought directly to them. This year's volunteers, Peyton Bressette, Quinn Bressette, Aibhlinn Ferry, Travis Gelok, Charlotte Woodcock, Von Hriczov, Owen Kendig, and Caitlyn Reilly, were our prize runners. We couldn't have done it without them.

The night ended with our grand prize raffle, an overnight stay, skiing, and snow tubing at Plattekil Mountain for eight people, valued at over $1500.

We are immensely grateful for the dedication of our committee, the enthusiasm of our guests, and the generosity of our donors. Because of their collective efforts, we raised an impressive $16,101. Our PTA will use this significant amount to further support and enhance our children's educational experience.
